Sumera Aziz, MBBS, PhD

Title: Post-Doctoral Research Fellow

Affiliations: Department of Pediatrics, University of Alberta

Dr. Sumera Aziz is a medical doctor and epidemiologist with over a decade of experience in global maternal and child health. Her expertise includes randomized controlled trials, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and community-based research, supported by over 90 peer-reviewed publications (Google Scholar citations: 2,759; h-index: 25; i10-index: 47). She is recognized for academic leadership, grant success, and cross-cultural teaching and mentorship across South Asia and North America.

Christie Li, BSc, MSc

Title: Research Coordinator

Affiliations: University of Alberta

Christie is one of the Clinical Research Coordinators for Dr. Joseph Ting’s research program, supporting research studies. In addition to coordinating logistics, she actively contributes to the team’s research and academic endeavors, as well as knowledge translation efforts. Christie brings both medical science knowledge from McGill University and the University of Alberta, and a passion for patient-oriented research to the team. She is particularly interested in translational research that bridges evidence and practice to improve care for vulnerable patient populations. 

Mimi Kuan, BSc, MSc

Title: Research Coordinator

Affiliations: University of British Columbia & University of Alberta

Mimi Kuan completed her Bachelor of Science with a major in Pharmacology and a minor in Kinesiology at McGill University in 2016 and her Master of Science in Experimental Medicine at UBC in 2020. Her areas of research interest include premature infants, babies with medical complexity, and neonatal outcomes. Her research forte includes study methodology, statistical analysis, and knowledge dissemination.
